U2: Good on stage, but lousy tippers?

U2 will be at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Friday and you can expect that the band will give everything it has on stage. Maybe not so much, though, when it comes to the post-show meal.

The Shelby Star, out of Cleveland County, North Carolina, quotes the Raleigh News & Observer's report about how a local barbecue joint was called upon for some above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty service for the band after a weekend concert at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh.

Cooper's BBQ was ready to close when a member of the band's entourage called and asked the staff to rustle up enough food for 25 people: barbecue, pork rinds, five fried chickens, pig skins, ribs, cole slaw, hush puppies.

Eight security guards escorted the cooks and the food to the galley area of the band's private jet at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Inside, they put together the feast, meeting guitarist The Edge in the process. The Cooper's folks were so excited that they threw in banana pudding for free.

The bill came to $277. The band gave them $300. Not much of a tip, as the News & Observer reports. Cooper's only takes cash, so maybe the band was just a little bit short on it.

You can read the story here.
